The former Target store closed in mid-January to allow for the works to take place.
A Kmart spokesperson said despite the new name, there was plenty in the new store that would prove familiar.

"We've been part of the Ararat community for the past 21 years and we're so excited to continue our journey with Kmart, one of Australia's most iconic brands," they said.
"Customers will also be welcomed into the store with some familiar faces. 11 of our Target team members have joined the K hub team; and we're thrilled to have been able to recruit another 7 team members from the local community."
The store will also serve as a collection point for online Target orders, allowing people to continue purchasing Target products.
