The Northern Grampians Shire Council's planned upgrades for the North Park precinct are set for a switch in funding allocation after the council decided to withdraw its application from the Local Roads Community Infrastructure Fund.

The North Park precinct upgrades will now be funded by the Victorian Government's Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program, while the Local Roads Community Infrastructure Fund will be used to complete 13 different projects in the region
At its Monday, February 1 meeting, the council said that due to current projects running on time and on budget, new funding opportunities have become available which are better suited to achieve the North Park Precinct Projects.
As a result, stage one of the Netball Court Upgrade will be withdraw from the list of adopted projects under round one of the Local Roads Community Infrastructure Fund and it will be replaced with 13 other priority projects.

Funding for the North Park precinct development will be applied for through the Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program after the State Government added another $110 million for a second round of applications due to high demand.
A council spokeswoman also said no delays to the completion of the North Park precinct are expected.
Under the Local Roads Community Infrastructure Fund the Northern Grampians Shire Council is eligible for $1,538,379 worth of projects to be completed by December 31 2021.
Council will now be seeking funding for the following list of projects:
- Revitalising St Arnaud to increase public activity (streetscape).
- St Arnaud tennis club building renewal.
- Landsborough road bridge renewal, Kindred Road.
- Willaring Road culvert upgrade.
- Sloane Street roundabout rehabilitation.
- Newton Street, Stawell, kerb and channel/footpath installation.
- Bowen Street, St Arnaud, kerb and channel/footpath installation.
- Grampians Road, Halls Gap, pedestrian crossing.
- Clematis Drive, Halls Gap, footpath installation.
- Patrick Street, Stawell, drainage.
- McLaughlin Street, Stawell, kerb and channel/footpath/drainage installation.
- Banyena Road, Banyena, final seal.
- Trajul Road, Halls Gap, final seal.
- Woolpack Road, St Arnaud, final seal.
The federally supported Local Roads Community Infrastructure Fund is designed to stimulate growth and create jobs in local communities following the impacts of COVID-19.

On May 22, 2020, the Australian Government announced a $500 million Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program and after strong community and local government support the Government announced announced a further $1 billion extension of the program in the 2020-21 Budget.
Councils have been able to access funding under phase two from January 1, 2021.
