Ararat's Yvonne Dowie has received a refund for her flights to Singapore, four months after she cancelled them.

However, she said she still feels for many others who aren't in the same boat as her.
"I joined a social media group for people who were trying to get refunds," she said.

"There are advocates in the group who are working with organisations to try and help people who have been left in the dark about where their money is.
"Just last night, I found out from this group after 600 surveys completed - the total amount in delayed refunds came in just under $3.6 million.
"These responses are just a small portion of people who are waiting for refunds within Australia.
"It's pretty depressing."
Mrs Dowie said she received a phone call to say she would be getting a refund around August 5.

"I was told it would be up to 10 to 20 business days," she said.
"I didn't really worry about it because it's been such a long process.
"I thought it might have come through by the end of the month but it only took five working days."
Mrs Dowie said with the uncertainty of the border restrictions, she is unsure if she will ever travel again.
"My son Michael in Singapore told me he believes it could be 2023 before they think about getting back to what it was and borders won't be open until 2022," she said.

"It's just all a waiting game and I'll just see what happens - we can't really do anything about it besides following the rules."
