The couple retired fours years ago and since then has toured around finding places to stay along the northern NSW border and in Queensland.
Mrs Konig said she loved the outdoor lifestyle that comes with caravaning.
"I cook outside all the time," she said. "We used to go away with friends as well. It's a really nice atmosphere to be around friends and spending time outside."
The couple had visited Valla Beach, near Coffs Harbour, for the past two years and 2020 was going to be no different.
"Everything was cancelled," Mrs Konig said.
HOLIDAYS AT HOME SERIES:
"We were booked into the caravan park there right on the beach.
"The caravan park actually rang us and said they were closed and that they might not open again until August.
"We've since heard they might not be opening again this year."
Mrs Konig said the tourist park was a combined retirement village as well for tourists.
"They can't let other people in because of the coronavirus threat," she said.
Mrs Konig said since being at home the couple had been walking the dog every morning.
"I've been doing some of my family tree," she said.
"Colin has his model railway in his train room outside so he's out there a lot."
Mr Konig said he was confident he would travel again once the restrictions were lifted.
"We'll keep to the quieter areas and we prefer the inland routes," he said. "You can sit around campfires at night and have a few yarns without of travellers is great.
"Those kinds of activities have been banned now, but once it's allowed again we'll be looking forward to going through the outback areas."
Mr Konig said the first big trip the couple went on in the caravan was along Kidman Way.
"We went right up through there to the Gulf of Carpentaria and Karumba," he said.
HOLIDAYS AT HOME SERIES:
"From there we went across to Cairns and then back down the coast.
"It was an amazing trip and we can't wait to do those kinds of things again and really want to head west.
"But everything is on hold right now."
Mr Konig said a trip along the Murray was on the cards after the state borders were closed.
"When we couldn't go into NSW we decided to just head up to the Murray and stay in Victoria," he said.
"But obviously we can't but once we can do it we're itching to get away."
