The Stawell Fire Brigade has collected their largest donation to the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal in around 50 years after a record turnout in 2021.
Donations flooded in thanks to one very special event and from residents and tourists in the region.
At the latest count, the Stawell Fire Brigade had collected $61,182.00, with some more still expected to roll in.
That total ranked Stawell ninth in the state for regional centres ahead of Warrnambool ($59,887) in tenth and Bendigo ($59,882) in eleventh.
Of that record amount, $35,225.95 was raised and donated by Jim and Karen Leithhead, who ran a Show and Shine Day with their collection of Lincoln motorcars on Good Friday in Pomonal.
All proceeds from the day were donated to the Stawell Fire Brigade's appeal, helping them get their highest collection ever in their 50 years of rattling tins.
Stawell Fire Brigade captain Mal Nicholson said Good Friday was a great day and he is very proud of everyone who was involved.
"We would just like to thank all our members and volunteers who came down for the day and also Jim and Karen who opened up their car display and everything they did out there," he said.
"It is a bit mind-blowing really, but it was absolutely huge and now we can see how we go next time.
"We are absolutely wrapped with the day.
"The vibe on the whole day was great and when we worked out the grand total at the end of the day we were really excited, it was absolutely great."
Mr Nicholson said around 60 volunteers were involved with helping on the day with people donating via cash or through a digital transfer.
Mr Nicholson also said the brigade received a great response in Halls Gap with many residents and tourists giving generously.
Around the state, regional areas raised $2,863,464 out of the $17,122,879 raised in total.
Ballarat's $123,231 topped the charts for a regional area in Victoria.
