One of the Grampians Cricket Association's finest players has capped off a stellar year after claiming several awards at the association's annual ceremony on Monday, March 1.

Youth Club's Nic Baird claimed the 'Goldie Award' for the Umpires MVP, by just a single vote, as well as the A Grade Champion player award.
Baird took out the 'Goldie Award' with 10 votes, with Swifts-Great Western's Tom Eckel and Sam Cocks (nine votes) and Buangor-Tatyoon's Jarrod Blandford (eight votes) narrowly missing out on the coveted award.
Baird also claimed a narrow win from Sam Cocks in the A Grade Champion player award with a 23 point win.
Players receive points for runs scored and wickets and catches taken, with Baird's 303 runs, 14 wickets and five catches enough to earn him 488 points.
Sam Cocks was second with 465 points, Jarrod Blandford was third, while Matt Heffer and Clinton Slorach finished fourth and fifth.

Swifts-Great Western bowler Matt Heffer claimed the A Grade bowling average award with 18 wickets at an average of 8.06, while his teammate Rick Peters took out the A Grade batting average award with 207 runs at an average of 207.
St Andrew's had a tough season, but there are bright signs for the future with Sam Summers winning the A Grade Under 21 Future Star award with 216 points, with Buangor-Tatyoon's James Phillips a narrow second with 198 points.
In the B Grade, Halls Gap's Lachlan Smart was the Champion player with 515 points from 305 runs,15 wickets and six catches, with Rhymney-Moyston's Nathan Quick second with 382 points.
Smart also took out the bowling average award with his 15 wickets at an average of 10.33, while Combine's Travis Nicholson won the batting award with 298 runs at an average of 74.50.
For the under-16 competition Halls Gap's Brady McMahon was declared the winner of the Terry Lannen Champion player award with 220 points, with his teammate Jade McMurtrie second on 200 points.
