Playing away from home, Swifts went into the match as strong favourites but the Tigers showed signs early they would not be easy beats.
Swifts took a tight three-goal lead into the first break and managed to extend it to seven by half-time.
Courtney Morrow said the match felt much tighter despite the 27-20 half-time scoreline.
"I don't think the score reflected how the match felt like," she said.
"It was really tough going out there, we were forced to work really hard. They really took it up to us."
Despite ongoing issues of slipping up in second halves this year, the Stawell-based team took control in the third term.
Swifts scored 18 third quarter goals to 10, extending the margin to 15 and securing another four points.
The Tigers only let the final margin push out to 16 goals, going down 60-44.
"It was good to have another win and good to know that we can push it out and break away later in games," Morrow said.
"Usually we have been dropping off after half time but we were really switched on this time around.
"Our talk was good and we fought really hard all game. We still need to improve our fitness but it is getting better each week."
Morrow said the team was bolstered by strong bookends.
"Erin Freeland has been dominating down there as goalkeeper while Jade Ralph and Michaela Armer shot very well again," she said.
Swifts are now within touching distance of securing a top six spot. A win over Taylors Lake this weekend will guarantee them an A Grade finals spot for a second consecutive year.
