A section of ground near the south side of the oval will be regraded, to prevent water pooling from taking place.
The upgrades will allow water to flow away from the area in a more efficient fashion, turning the site into a more attractive grassed area for marquees and pens to be erected for the show.
It is expected that the ground works will be completed over the next couple of weeks in time for the upcoming sheep show.
Northern Grampians Shire Council mayor Kevin Erwin said the upgrades will include a pad which will allow for a marquee to be erected.
"This will then prevent the sheep and lambs from getting muddy and having the ground chewed up," he said.
"It's been great to see the resurrection of sheep and wool of late, there's quite a bit of money around for it now and there's some great events and facilities being held in Marnoo so hopefully this event will follow that same trend and grow into a great one."
Marnoo Merino Breeders member Tim Polkinghorne said the upcoming sheep show will be the first state event in Victoria for the merino industry.
"We think this is a great opportunity to hold one in central Victoria that we hope will attract anywhere between 800-1000 people to Marnoo and the shire in general," he said.
"We've had fantastic support from council in getting the facility ready to be able to hold the event."
