The man who was apparently unhappy with the vaccination process grabbed a needle from a health care worker in Darwin and jabbed himself before storming off, territory police commissioner Jamie Chalker said.
The man had indicated he "was not overly happy with the process", the police commissioner said.
Unfortunately for the man, health staff are still trying to work out whether the jab can legally be recorded as a first dose.
In Victoria, 3358 vaccines were administered at state-run clinics on Tuesday.
Another three people lost their lives, with 284 in hospital.
Of them, 52 were in intensive care units and 29 were on ventillators.
