The VicEmergency alert was issued at 5:30pm on Monday after the fire had been out of control for almost two hours.
The advice and alert was issued for Lubeck and Murtoa.
The alert said "the grassfire in state forest at Murtoa is now under control".
"Emergency services remain on the scene.
"This Advice message replaces the Advice issued at 4.50pm."
The alert said smoke will be visible from nearby roads and communities.
Monday, 5pm
Firefighters are on the scene of a grass and scrub fire burning in a state forest around six kilometres south west of Murtoa.
The 10-hectare fire was first reported to the CFA at 3.30pm, with CFA and Forest Fire Management in attendance.
Four trucks are in attendance; two from Jung, one from Murtoa and one from Lubeck.
A warning has been issued to residents in the area to clear the roads so emergency services can respond and to be aware of visible smoke in the area.
