Stawell Police have caught two people from metropolitan Melbourne who were breaching the Chief Health Officer directions and found in possession of illicit substances.

On Monday, August 30 police observed two people acting suspiciously on Robinson St, Stawell, at approximately 12.30am.
Stawell Police Station Sergeant Eddie Malpas said due to the circumstances both people were searched under the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Act.
A 35-year-old male was found in possession of methamphetamine, commonly known as ice, and a 26-year old-female was also found in possession of ice.

Both were processed by way of a Drug Diversion.
Sergeant Malpas said upon further enquiries police members found the pair had travelled from the Melbourne Metropolitan area without a lawful excuse.
The members issued the pair a penalty notice for breaching the Chief Health Officer Directions.

Sergeant Malpas said this penalty is an example of the work Stawell Police are completing.
"Instances like this highlight that our police members are out and about at all times of the day and night, working proactively to keep the people of Stawell safe," he said.
