COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions have been tough on beauticians and the beauty industry throughout the Wimmera, but some operators are choosing to look at the latest state government announcements with optimism.

As part of regional Victoria's lockdown restrictions lifting beauticians can open their doors once again, with a cap of 10 people and masks must remain on for duration of service.
And while these restrictions will limit the services beauticians can provide, they are just happy to open once again.
The Wimmera's Sassie Beauty part-owner Denise Dumesny said her business has seen a wave of customers make booking now they have opened again.
"It is very exciting for us and we can't thank our clients enough really, it is amazing," she said.
"For us the restrictions aren't too severe.

"We are open for business and flat out really. We are booked up for a couple of weeks.
"We can do most services. We can't do the high-end facials, but as soon as the masks come off people will be able to rebook for those.
"Clients have to keep their masks on at all times so some of the waxing and facials we can't do."
Sassie Beauty employees ten staff and Ms Dumesny said one of the toughest parts of lockdown has been keeping staff engaged.
"Even in lockdown we try to keep our staff connected to our business and we offer them training via Zoom," she said.

"The in-and-out part has been the most challenging bit of lockdown.
"It has been all about keeping the staff connected and making sure we have a viable business at the end of it which we have."
Ms Dumesny said despite the restrictions limiting their business she was looking at the situation optimistically.
"We could all be thinking it is a disaster, but compared to a lot of other places we are in a pretty good place," she said.
"We are happy with what we have got and we are hoping that we don't get lockdown again.
"We are trying to do absolutely everything right with our clients because we don't want to be locked down as a business.
"We are back, we are really happy to be back and we are really excited to be back, what more could I ask really.
"We are just trying to be grateful every day for what we have got."
