In our beautiful region, the bold and brassy colours of the spring annuals burst forth and mix it with the golden dazzle of wattle, wild flowers bloom after the winter rains and every weather season appears to happen, in the one day!
So while it's liberating to throw off the winter layers and step out to renew acquaintances with all we have to offer, do keep the scarf and cardy handy - you just never know when you might need to spend the afternoon cosied up in a local cafe, or eatery.
It won't really be a hardship though, as we have some beauties here.
So rain, hail and shine, enjoy a latte, wine or a cuppa, shop in the gorgeous fashion boutiques with their bright new palette of colours in their windows, and ferret out all that our region has to offer.
Enjoy your time with us and make a note of all the many places and events not to be missed. With the news on lockdown changing by the minute, do check first on who is open and what's required and allowed.
Like the new coffee table book it will inspire you... Through their lenses
Experience the magnificence, the colour, the beauty and the originality of the Wimmera, with the new release of the coffee table book called The Wimmera - A journey through western Victoria.
The creative team has taken hundreds of images, met remarkable people and collected their stories. These images and tales have now been turned turned into another stunning book.
To capture the essence of the region, award-winning photojournalists Noel Butcher, David Callow, Andrew Chapman, Melanie Faith Dove, Erin Jonasson and Jaime Murcia followed sections of a 1950s railway map, journeying along some lines that are still in use and others that have been closed for the best part of 40 years.
They discovered a host of tiny towns and districts off the beaten track, some deserted, some with vibrant communities and some with surprising and quirky landmarks.
"We hope to inspire readers to check out the Wimmera for themselves. And even if you can't travel there, The Wimmera: A journey through western Victoria can take you on a journey through the region from the comfort of your couch."
Or... The flavours of our unique region
For comfort food, easy peasy 'quick dinner' food, and blissful 'spoil me' food, it's all available at this vibrant cafe in the heart of Nhill.
Amber has been operating her business for the past four years or so, and can't imagine doing anything she loves more.
"Everything is made on the premises from scratch. I focus on good quality store-made food and great boutique coffee," Amber said.
And Amber's food is a taste treat you don't want to miss. During the colder months she has prepared homemade soups like minestrone served with relish cheese toasties, cauliflower and bacon, as well as chicken and corn soup with cheesy scones.
And don't miss... The Tempting town of Harrow
The historic town of Harrow, nestled in a picturesque valley, is situated on the banks of the Glenelg River in the West Wimmera, and lays claim to being one of Victoria's oldest inland settlements.
The Harrow Discovery Centre, an interactive museum, tells the story of the trailblazing cricket team, a group of proud Jardwadjali, Wotjobaluk and Gunditjmara men, that took their culture to the world in a time of colonisation.
The Harrow Discovery Centre has the second largest collection of Donald Bradman memorabilia, The Mullagh Medal, that is presented to the Man of the Match of the boxing day test match and other cricket memorabilia and rare artefacts. Open 7 days a week from 11am-4pm. Entry is free but a donation is appreciated.
