FOOTBALL and Netball vote counts will look different in 2021, as the region's leagues make the move to online counts.
The call comes as many organisations across all industry and sectors plan out the future on how to conduct business as usual, in a COVID-19 world.
With unplanned stoppages to the season, and caps on patrons to venues, the league's presentation events will allow clubs to host smaller, intimate, functions while celebrating the stars of the game.
The Wimmera Football Netball League and Horsham and District Football Netball League both announced they will host all 2021 award ceremonies via live stream with the junior WFNL presentation night to be streamed via private Zoom on August 23 at 6pm.
The Toohey and Hatcher Medals will be jointly held on September 10 at 6pm and streamed publicly online.
The junior HDFNL vote count has been rescheduled for Wednesday August 25 in the hope that government restrictions have eased and more people can gather to watch.
The junior count will be streamed live via a private Zoom, while the Dellar Medal and A Grade netball Best and Fairest count will be held on Monday September 6 and live streamed publicly online.
Further details are currently being finalised by the WFNL and HDFNL, with more information set to come soon.
It's been two years since a league best and fairest was crowned due to the cancelled seasons in 2020.
The reigning Toohey and Hatcher Medalists from the 2019 season are Ben McIntyre from Minyip-Murtoa and Georgia Hiscock from the Horsham Demons.
Across in the District league, Jenna Bywaters of Kalkee is the reigning A Grade Best and Fairest, while Harrow-Balmoral's Nick Pekin, and Edenhope-Apsley duo Lachlan Middleton and Jak Ryan all tied for the prestigious award in 2019.
This year's senior vote counts in both leagues are set to be hotly contested with no clear favourite emerging in all four competitions as of yet.
With only one round left in the HDFNL to be played at the weekend, and two for the WFNL - could the region see a come from behind win a standout performance in the final few rounds on the season?
Only time will tell.
