Crime recorded has increased by 21.5 per cent over the last 12 month period for Northern Grampians, rising from 1052 offences to 1278.
The Crime Statistics Agency released the new data on Thursday, June 17, in which the crime statistics for the period from March 31, 2020, to March 31, 2021.
The most common types of crime are around Breaches of family Violence orders, 179 crimes recorded, and crime committed are most likely to be committed in a house, 394 incidents.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Breaches increased from 84 last year to 179. The second most common crime of drug possession also increased from 79 crimes the previous year to 126 this year.
The statistics revealed two decreases, crimes recorded in St Arnaud decreased from 213 crimes recorded the previous year to 165 this year.
Criminal damage offences dropped from 114 to 100 cases recorded.
Crimes committed in a house rose from 311 to 394 over the 12 months, and the second most common location for a crime recorded was the street, footpath or laneway, with 289 crimes recorded at these locations.
Street located crimes increased from 175 offences in the last round of statistics to 289.
Most crimes occurred in the Stawell location (818), the second-highest being St Arnaud (165) despite the drop in crimes recorded.
