The Bureau of Meteorology and Vic Emergency have issued a warning for damaging winds for the Grampians area this Wednesday.
A cold front has also come across the western parts of Victoria.
The Bureau has advised of a severe weather event hitting Victoria over Tuesday and Wednesday.
"We expect severe weather events in winter," Emergency Services Meteorologist Kevin Parkyn said.
"These cold fronts bring damaging winds and heavy rain."
IN OTHER NEWS:
More rain from the cold front is expected on Wednesday, which will intensify Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
Victoria can expect up to 20 to 50mm of rain.
Mr Parkyn said the winds are another concern.
"We're really concerned about the wind with this system," he said.
"Damaging winds across the state on Wednesday, intensifying on Wednesday night. It's the overnight period we're particularly worried about with damaging winds."
Mr Parkyn said the rain and wind can impact vegetation and become debris on roads.
Damaging southerly winds, averaging 50 to 60 km/h with peak gusts of 90 to 100 km/h, are expected to develop about elevated parts of the western ranges during the early hours of Wednesday morning.
During damaging winds, falling trees are often an issue, it is advised to move vehicles away from trees and be wary of tree heavy roads when driving during damaging winds.
