The road maintenance 'blitz' has completed more than its original goal, improving over 485 kilometres of roads across Western Victoria, exceeding the target of 370 kilometres by more than 30 per cent, with additional works still underway.
Crews have been working to upgrade more than $72 million in road maintenance to the region.
Around Stawell these works include on the Donald-Stawell Road south of Callawadda, as well as works on the Wimmera Highway in Horsham and the Henty Highway south of Haven.

Overall, the annual regional road maintenance season has seen 1,800 kilometres of the state's regional roads resurfaced or rebuilt, exceeding the pre-blitz target of 1,600 kilometres.
Victorian Minister for Roads and Road Safety Ben Carroll said the upgrades are a key policy of the state government.
"We are making our regional roads safer, stronger and more reliable for everyone - not just improving journeys, but delivering local jobs when Victorians need them most," he said.
"Our teams have delivered more than 1,800 kilometres of better roads across our state - including key tourist routes that are getting busier as more people take the opportunity to get out and explore our beautiful state."

Teams have also repaired more than 185,000 potholes and 20,000 roadside signs have been fixed or replaced.
The Labor Government has also injected $124 million into roads as part of its Building Works package, ensuring Victoria's road network runs smoothly while supporting local jobs for Victorians as the state recovers from the pandemic.
The state government also said as the effects of winter will slow the pace of works, but reminded drivers to be patient, obey the posted speed limits, and drive with caution.
