Sessions are being held throughout May, and will include presentations from Victoria Police, PETstock Stawell, Stawell Sports and Aquatic Centre and McDonalds Restaurants.

CGLLEN Partnerships and Pathways Coordinator Nerissa Gee said the School-Employer Engagement sessions aim to expose students to industries they may not have considered.

"The sessions increase the students' knowledge of career opportunities in each industry and provide them with details on the skills and qualifications they need to work in that field," Ms Gee said.

"We have been really impressed with how the students at Skene Street School have been engaging in the sessions and asking questions of the presenters. It has been great to see them so interested in learning about career paths."

Skene Street School principal Sandi Slocombe said the initiative had been well received by students and staff.

"We are grateful to CGLLEN for making the School-Employer Engagement Program available to our students," she said.

"It's a fun and interactive way to introduce careers education and both students and staff have found the information really useful.

"Many of our students would never have considered some of these industries as potential career paths, so seeing them exposed to so many possibilities has been fantastic."

Ms Gee said the School-Employer Engagement Program also benefited employers by providing them with an opportunity to promote their industry and any placement opportunities they may have available.

"It's all about equipping young people with the information they need to pursue a career and giving employers a chance to highlight what they look for in an employee," she said.
