It will be the third home game of the Swifts in the Horsham and District Football Netball League where they welcome Member for Mallee Dr Anne Webster and Northern Grampians Shire Council mayor Murray Emerson for official proceedings at 12.10pm.
North Park Multipurpose Sporting Facility was funded through $700,000 from the State Government, $500,000 from Sport Australia, over $2 million from the Northern Grampians Shire Council and $150,000 from Swifts Football Netball Club.
Past presidents and representatives toured the facility during round two of the District league and were delighted their club was invested in the future of sport in the region.
"It was fantastic to be able to host some of the past presidents and welcome them to the new facility," past president Rob Carey said.
OTHER NEWS:
"The people who attended on Saturday have across many years put hard work and dedication into the club.
"It might not necessarily be into this particular project but it's all lead us to here. The presidents, or their families, have pledged to help continue the club's quest in reaching its fundraising goals for the new facility."
Mr Carey and 2020 president Ian O'Donnell said the response to the project was overwhelming.
"We've had a few groups through and played two home games and the difference the facility makes is phenomenal," Mr Carey said.
"This facility will be something everyone in Stawell can be proud of - not just the Swifts Football Netball Club.
"Players and school students from various activities and organisations will use the facility and it's an asset the people of Stawell should be really proud of.
MORE NEWS:
"We are still working towards raising money to put the finer touches on the building and we welcome anyone who would like to contribute to come forward."
Cr Emerson said he was also looking forward to the official opening of the facility.
"The North Park Multipurpose Sporting Facility project would not have been possible without the very generous financial support from the State and Federal Governments, a two million dollar contribution from council and the incredible donations and fundraising by the local community and the Swifts Football and Netball Club," he said.
In addition to the opening, Council is polling for a new name for the facility and will adopt the community's preferred name for the building at the June council meeting.
The naming survey is accessible online at www.ngshire.vic.gov.au/Have-Your-Say/North-Park-Multipurpose-Sporting-Facility-Name-Poll.
For residents who do not have access to the internet, a paper copy of the survey is available for pick up from customer service.
