During the ceremony Mr Cox welcomed residents back to the dawn service after the challenges of 2020 and hoped everyone would the take time to respect Australia's veterans throughout the day.

"The dawn service observed on ANZAC Day has its origins and is still observed by the Australia Army today.
"During battle the half-light of dawn was one of the most favoured times for an attack.
"Soldiers were therefore woken up in the dark, before dawn so by the time the first light had crept across the battle field they were awake alert and manning their weapons."
The Lord's Prayer, The Ode and The Last Post, played by Stawell's Amelia Kingston were all part of the ceremony as the crowd paid their respects to those who have served our country.
