Five teams will do battle this season, with Middy's Electrical and Monaghans Real Estate both registering victories in round one, at the expense of Carey's Covers and Brian Thomas Electrical. Mellor Monumental will have to wait for next week to get their season under way, courtesy of a round one bye.
A Tom Collins and Arlo Hastings inspired Middy's Electrical team comfortably accounted for their rivals, Carey's Covers, in a 54 - 17 victory on opening night. All the hard work that Collins has put in at home in the backyard is paying handsome dividends, as he top scored for the game, and was well supported by Hastings.
Jack Kuchel was another solid contributor, while Bailey Stirling, Vanilla Ika and Jack Stevens all played an instrumental part in the win.
Carey's Covers was well led by Will Moloney, with Rhez Campbell, Jed Hurley, Charmaine Lockwood and Travis Brown also hitting the scoreboard. Look for Carey's Covers to bounce back strongly in their next contest, with Bailey Cowen and Jalen Lockwood looking to open their scoring account.
OTHER NEWS:
The second game of the evening was a tighter affair, with Monaghans Real Estate coming out on top to the tune of 11pts, 37 - 26 over Brian Thomas Electrical. A well-balanced attack, led by John Jok and Jordan Lockwood, and featuring a strong supporting cast consisting of Jack Reading, Jules Lockwood, Ava Hine and Adi Obi, was just too much for the Brian Thomas Electrical outfit to handle.
The defeated battled hard, right to the final whistle, with Jack Clementson doing the bulk of the scoring, and Ryan Henke, Levi Henderson, Teepika Jones, and brothers Hunter and Nate Thomas all making valuable contributions throughout the game.
ROUND ONE RESULTS
