For stage two of the school's development, Member for Western Victoria Jaala Pulford announced Melbourne-based design firm CO.OP Studios has been appointed to design the $11.152 million upgrades.
Stawell Secondary College principal Carlos Lopez said the school received more funding than was originally anticipated and they were now working with the architects to decide how to best use the extra dollars.
The stage two upgrades will include work to the Heritage-listed main office building and the development of an arts and performing precinct.
"One of the problems that we have identified is the flow between the learning spaces isn't quite there so we are going to try and improve that.
"One of the big focuses and something I am pushing very strongly towards, is making sure whatever is built is a community asset.
"We want the new performing arts buildings to be able to be used by everyone in Stawell and we want them to represent the arts history of Stawell
"I am a big advocate for flexible spaces, so if two teachers want to teach together, we want to have walls that just open up and allow that collaboration.
"We want to make sure, that whatever goes in, is going to be as cutting edge as possible.
Mr Lopez said the upgrades would give the school and its students a major boost.
"The funds we have got we are ecstatic about it and we love it, but we weren't expecting this much and so at the moment we are reviewing our school, looking at completing stage two and seeing what we can do with the remaining funds," he said.
"It will put our school in a really good standing with the rest of the Wimmera schools.
"We want to make sure the buildings that are out in place are a worthwhile investment for the next 70-100 years."
Stage two upgrades are expected to take almost three years to complete, with work scheduled to finish in late 2023.
