As part of the program Stawell residents can bring their old sport shoes to the Sportspower store, where there will be a black and white donation bin (pictured above) to put your shoes in.
After collection, the shoes will be taken and used to create 'crumb' based floors including gym mats, retail flooring and anti-fatigue mats.
So far the program has helped clear 33,737 kilograms, or 100,000 pairs of unwanted shoes from landfill with the aim of reaching 250,000 pairs soon.
Australian Sporting Goods Association hopes the program will grow to have 200 collection points and "inspire consumers and manufacturers to create end of life programs that provide positive environmental outcomes".
