Patrick scored an impressive ATAR of 96.1.
The scores were announced on December 30.
"The scores came out at 7am but I couldn't bring myself to look until 8.30pm that night," Patrick said.
"I was that nervous and scared to look. It's pretty silly now that I think back on it."
A vision to study a bachelor of science at Melbourne University, Patrick said entry scores into the course have previously been 96.

"I scraped in by .1 and which should get bumped up a little so it should put me in a good position to get into the course," he said.
"After I finish my bachelor's I want to stay in Melbourne to do a two-year masters of engineering.
"My dream is to become an engineer of some type. I'm not sure what engineering I want to do just yet. Maybe robotics or chemical engineering.
"I'm lucky I got what I set out to achieve because I didn't have a backup plan at all."
Patrick didn't find studying through COVID restrictions and remote learning as difficult as he felt some of his fellow classmates found.
"In year 11 I studied a specialist maths year 12 subject online," he said.
"I already had that experience of doing a course online by myself and finding that self-drive to study."
Patrick said he was grateful for the help he received from both teachers at the school and through his remote learning subjects.
OTHER NEWS:
"I'd like to thank Aaron Daziel who was my chemistry teacher, Robyn Williams who was my maths methods teacher and Gaynor Radovic who was my english teacher," he said. "My online teachers for physics and specialists, Mark Woodroffe and Roy Preece, helped me immensely as well."
Patrick achieved an impressive score of 42 for his physics subject.
"I recommended students undertaking their VCE to try their best to study a year 12 subject in year 11," he said.
"It gives you a backup subject for your ATAR and gives you a little boost as well.
"You also get a taste of what year 12 is about and learn how to manage your time and studies."
