The designs for the $3.1 million project include a 800 square metre pavilion with movable doors for indoor and outdoor spaces, female friendly change rooms, umpire specificrooms, massage room and a new canteen.
Funding for the project includes $700,000 from the Victorian Government, $500,000 from the Federal Government, $100,000 from an AFL support pledge, $150,000 from the community and the balance from Northern Grampians Shire Council which was included in the 2020-21 budget.
Kara Kara Ward Councillor Tony Driscoll said there was a great sense of excitement for the community.
"These designs will make a wonderful addition to our community and we are looking forward to seeing it come together after the recent demolition of the former Tote Building. The Lord Nelson Park is a stronghold venue for sporting in the North Central region. It hosts football, netball, racing, hockey and cricket.
"It is also home to the St Arnaud Agricultural Show."
The concept for the new building design was put forward by MKM Constructions following extensive collaboration with Sport and Recreation Victoria.
