Stawell Little Athletics Club is back on the track at North Park - its weekly event playing host to a number of excited young participants.
To escaping the covid restrictions and the impacts of the shutdown, the club took the opportunity last week to perform a socially distanced and covid-safe presentation from the previous season.
The 2019-20 was cut short due to the cancellation of sport and organised activities.
Club president Greg Carter said he was 'relieved' they could get the formality of last season done.
"We did the presentation outdoors and in groups of 10 so it fell within the restrictions," he said.
"It was pretty rushed. The trophies were put out on the table and each trophy winner was directed to pick up their own trophy.
"It certainly looked very different from other years but we managed and the main thing was the athletes got the recognition they deserved from last season.
"We had a number of records broken this year that we 16 and 15-year-old records which were great to see."
Mr Carter said he "couldn't be happier" with how the participants have easily adapted to the new measures implemented at the club, in line with Little Athletics Victoria.
"We're back on Thursday nights at 5.15pm," he said.
"We keep the participants in groups of 10 and anyone over the age of 12 needs to wear a mask.
"Everyone needs to use hand sanitiser and have covid officers in place.
"The participants are pretty good. It's hard to keep the real young ones off each other which is the hardest problem.
"We've set some cones out so we get them sitting at their 1.5 metres apart to socially distance."
Mr Carter said about six new members had joined the club, and any athletes wanting to join still could.
"Because we are a small club, our costs are quite low," he said.
"So this year it was decided that we would only charge the affiliation fee for Little Athletics Victoria and no club fees. Everything is so unknown and we aren't sure what's going to happen so the committee decided this was the best way forward."
