Grampians winery Best's Great Western, which has some of the oldest and rarest vines globally, was named Australia's Best Value Winery of the Year at the Halliday Awards.

During an online awards ceremony last Wednesday night, the family-owned winery was recognised for their quality to price ratio.
Best's wine club manager Nicole Thomson has worked at the winery for 10 years and said the prices have not changed.
"The Thomson family pride themselves on delivering high-quality wine at an affordable price," she said.
"Normally the awards are held at the Arts Centre Melbourne with a formal dinner but this year due to COVID-19 it was in our lounge room," she said.

"I presented the award to fourth-generation winemaker Viv Thomson and his son, managing director Ben Thomson.
"It was an informal evening but it was lovely to have all of the family there."
Best's Wines has a 154-year history with only two families involved. The Thomson family purchased it from Henry Best's son in 1920.
"The Thomson family has owned Best's for 100 years this year, we are now up to the fifth generation," Mrs Thomson said.
"We have some of the oldest and rarest vines in the world right here. We are very lucky to have such old grapevines."
Mrs Thomson said during the COVID-19 pandemic they have focused on their online sales which have increased since winning the Halliday Award.
"We are still available for pick up but we aren't doing tastings anymore which was where we generated a lot of our sales," she said.
"But our online sales have been amazing. We have been able to keep our staff on during lockdown.
"We need all of our staff because we grow and pick the grapes, make the wine and bottle it up ourselves."
Best's is also a former Wine of the Year recipient for its Thomson Family Shiraz - the wine is made from vines that were planted in 1868 by Henry Best.
"We are classed as a cool climate region, so our wines have a pepper and spice aroma," Mrs Thomson said.
"Everything stems from the vineyard. You can't make good wine out of bad grapes.
"The Halliday Award is fabulous for the winery and especially the region."
