On March 26 an offender driving in the Lamont and Ellen Street area had their vehicle impounded for hoon driving, and Acting Senior Sergeant Allen said police are asking witnesses to "put pen to paper" and come forward with information in order to assist police in investigation and prosecuting hoon drivers.
Hoon laws include careless driving, intentional loss of traction, breach of licence conditions, overloading, excessive speed, drink and drug driving, among others.
The cost of recovering a vehicle impounded under hoon laws is in excess of $1000, separate to any court imposed penalty.
