The day kicks off at 10am with both under-12 and under-14 teams lining up against sides from Horsham while the senior team will take on Maryborough in a "friendly" competition.
Pioneers' coach Gary Bloomfield said it was important for players to get a feel for the game before the start of the season in April.
"Friendly competitions benefit from the training which is put in through preseason," he said. "The practice matches allow you to work on more things and get your systems going.
"When the season starts you are at your prime and ready to get going.
"We are trying to play against teams we might not play against in the normal season. The open day will be a good opportunity to see talent from other teams."
Bloomfield said Sunday's "friendly" is the start of a series of practice matches against clubs within the region.
"We'll have another one next month which will allow me to see the senior team that I would like to start the season with and then I can see how it might work," he said.
"I can see where I might need to tweak it and I can do that in training and then try it out again in another practice match. Hopefully, by the second friendly we have it right and are ready to go for the start of the season.
"Obviously we're still looking for more people and encourage both male and females to come along and see what the club is all about."
Bloomfield said training nights had been successful so far, particularly with junior numbers.
"The juniors have been having a very good turn out on their training nights and it's been about 50-50, boys and girls," he said.
"There is a lot of interest out there and we're getting about 20 juniors at the training sessions."
In the 2019 season, the Stawell Pioneers fielded a senior team and an under-12 team.
"This season we are hoping to field an under-14 side as well," Bloomfield said.
"To put in the two sides we will need to increase our numbers so the open day is a perfect way for people to come down and have a look and see what our club is about."
The junior Pioneers train on a Tuesday and Friday nights while seniors train on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at North Park.
"We have had quite a lot of people turn up but we still always can accommodate more," Bloomfield said.
"I still don't think a lot of people has a soccer team and the work that's put in for the sport in the region."
