Severe thunderstorms on Thursday evening brought heavy rain to parts of the Wimmera, with reports of flooding in Birchip and fires in Hopetoun and Banyan.

The Country Fire Authority has issued community information for Curyo, Hopetoun, Watchupga regarding a haystack fire at Nevilles Road in Hopetoun.
Similar information was also issued for Banyan, Woomelang, Willangie for a haystack fire on Collins Road in Banyan.
The message said haystack fires were not likely to spread into grassland but do generate a lot of smoke, which would be visible from nearby roads and communities.
Firefighters have been attending to the fire which may continue to burn for up to two days.
Thee CFA said there was no immediate threat to the community and no action was required.
The rain hit the north of the region the hardest with multiple calls for assistance from houses in Birchip.
Hopetoun received 58 millimetres of rain, Jeparit got 39 millimetres, there was 13 millimetres in Donald and Woomelang experienced 11 millimetres.
Nhill received 7.2 millimetres, Navarre got 5.2 millimetres, Warracknabeal experienced 4.2 millimetres, Horsham only got 3.2 millimetres, while had Dimboola 2 millimetres and Longerenong 1.2 millimetres.
