Ms Grimble has led the Horsham-based newsroom since March 2017 and later took on editor duties for the Stawell Times-News and Ararat Advertiser. She leaves the media industry after 13 years and takes a new opportunity with the Wimmera Development Association in January.
Ms Grimble has driven significant content changes and has overseen the introduction of digital subscriptions - both of which have gained strong community support.
"The Mail-Times has undergone significant change - since 2017 and certainly since I started my career here in 2007. Change is the only constant in our world. But while how we do what we do has changed, why we do it doesn't. The community deserves quality local journalism and my team delivers that every day," she said.
"Our readers feel immense ownership of the Mail-Times, and we don't take that responsibility lightly. We can't be all things to all people, but ultimately we work to serve them.
"We know what you like, and don't like to read. While we haven't always made you happy - and that's not why we're here - the choices we make and the stories you read reflect our community.
"I leave the Mail-Times proud to have been the custodian of what is a masthead with a very long, proud and respected history."
Ms Grimble's final day of work is December 24.
Recruitment will begin soon for her replacement. The new appointee to lead the local editorial teams of the Wimmera Mail-Times, Ararat Advertiser and Stawell Times-News will report to newly appointed Central-West Victoria editor Peter Kennedy.
Australian Community Media, which publishes the Wimmera Mail-Times, has announced that Mr Kennedy's role will also include leadership of the Bendigo Advertiser and oversight of the recently merged Bendigo Weekly and the Bendigo Domain property guide.
Mr Kennedy, a former Bendigo Advertiser editor, led the Bendigo Weekly for almost nine years until October's successful merger.
ACM editorial director Rod Quinn said Mr Kennedy was a highly experienced editor.
"Peter has a reputation for producing great newspapers and I know he will deliver for our loyal local audiences," he said.
