The UAE football association said in a statement the "UAE FA board members have decided to terminate the services of the national team head coach," and that a new coach will be announced in the next few days.
The decision comes after the UAE were beaten 4-2 by Qatar in the Gulf Cup on Monday to miss out on a semi-final place.
Van Marwijk, 67, has been in charge of the UAE team since succeeding Italian Alberto Zaccheroni in late January.
Van Marwijk led the Netherlands to the 2010 World Cup final, was Saudi Arabia coach between 2015 and 2017 and was in charge of Australia at the 2018 World Cup.
He has coached Feyenoord and Borussia Dortmund among others at club level.
