The Grampian Model Railroaders will host an open day from 1pm-5pm at their recently refurbished clubrooms, opposite the National Hotel in Wakeham Street.
Club president Micheal Hodder said the club was working hard to have several working layouts fully operational for the public to view plus a range of historical local railway memorabilia from log books to locomotive headlights.
"Club members will be present to answer questions on any of the layouts and their operations and more importantly to talk to the "closet" potential model railroaders who like the concept of model trains but just do not know how to start the process of building a layout," he said.
"People will be able to see the construction of the new N Scale exhibition layout, which is presently underway, and hoping to be finished by early 2020 and see the latest materials and technologies being used.
"One such technology is the Magnorail System, which will incorporate a lake scene on the N scale layout, with canoes and fishing boats actually cruising around.
"The unique Magnorail System is also used in the Crater Lake layout, which will be on display, featuring pedaling bicycles, moving cars and tractors, along with ski boats and jet skis towing water skiers."
The club boasts there will be a range of activities all in one small space which would "keep children and adults alike mesmerized".
Club treasurer Clyde Humphries said people could join the club on the day with the first year's subscription being $45 plus a joining fee of $15.
"Cold and hot drinks will be available from the new kitchen and servery area," he said.
"Entry to the open day will be by gold coin donation."
