Police stopped a vehicle on Charlton Road about 11.30pm on Friday after officers saw it travelling at excessive speed.
Sergeant Bill Alford said the driver, a St Arnaud man, 40, attempted to evade police with two passengers in the car.
"The driver stopped after he realised the police were behind him and he decided he wasn't going to run - he would stop," Sergeant Alford said.
"The vehicle was searched after a crystal methamphetamine pipe fell from the car.
"An imitation revolver was found in the glove box of the vehicle."
The man was arrested and charged with possession of crystal methamphetamine, possession of an imitation pistol, being a prohibited person, unlicensed driving, failure to stop and speeding while driving.
A St Arnaud man, 25, who was a passenger in the vehicle was charged with possession of crystal methamphetamine, which is also known as ice.
"He was also charged with handling stolen goods relating to a chainsaw that was stolen from the St Arnaud SES branch in early November," Sergeant Alford said.
The second passenger, a Charlton woman, 31, was taken to the St Arnaud station after a quantity of crystal methamphetamine was surrendered to police at the scene.
Sergeant Alford said police found a further nine bags of ice in the woman's possession.
"A small quantity of cash was found and she was charged with possession of crystal methamphetamine and dealing crystal methamphetamine," he said.
"She remanded in custody and was granted bail in the Ararat Magistrates' Court on Monday, November 25.
"She will appear in the St Arnaud Magistrates' Court at a later date."
Both men will appear at St Arnaud Magistrates' Court at a later date.
