Hosted by the Nhill Aviation Heritage Centre the event on Saturday 2 November will feature a number of planes formerly used by the Australian military.
Nhill Aviation Heritage Centre president Rob Lynch said he thinks this year's airshow will be the biggest Nhill had ever put on.
"We had about 4000 people attend the last show in 2015 and we think it will be more than that." he said.
Mr Lynch said the centre has been preparing for 12 months and had brought award-winning airshow performer Paul Bennett on board to provide professional assistance with running the aerobatic and skydiving displays.
He said the lead up was almost as exciting as the big day itself, with planes such as the Kitty Hawk, Tiger Moth and Grumman Avenger arriving at the Aerodrome.
Mr Lynch said the celebrations weren't just for aviation enthusiasts, with plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy including a children's play area, gliding competition, brass band, fashion parade, food stalls, military vehicles and vintage car displays.
"There will be four or five pre-1920 vehicles on display dating back to the era when the first aeroplane landed in Nhill," he said.
John Deckert, who played an integral role in purchasing a Wirraway aircraft for the Centre, said he was impressed with the planes acquired for the festival, especially the Grumman Avenger which had never come to Nhill before.
"To see it land and come in with the wings folded up is a bit unusual and incredible," he said.
