Entering Blakey's Tomatillo Jalapeno Salsa, Mrs Blake used produce 98 percent grown on her certified organic property in the Grampians
Growing Tomatillos for more than five years, Mrs Blake said many people had no idea what the vegetable was.
"It's a Mexican tomato," she said. "The only ingredient that isn't mine is the cumin - which there isn't much of that in the sauce.
"It's the first time I've ever made this sauce and the first time I've ever entered anything into the Melbourne Show. I was tickled pink when I found out I was the winner."
Mrs Blake said the salsa was a perfect pantry standby for unexpected guests.
"It can be used for tacos or with corn chips, grated cheese, sourcream for tasty nachos," she said. "The salsa is a refreshing unique flavour, but not too spicy."
Mrs Blake and her husband grow an extensive range of certified organic herbs and vegetables, often of the heritage variety.
