It wouldn't be spring in regional Victoria without all the sights and sounds of the annual show.
If you and your family love the thrill of the rides, the spectacle of the tractor pull and other attractions, and the fun of the competitions, this weekend you're in luck, with two shows to keep everyone entertained.
Stawell Show
The Stawell Show is on Saturday October 26 at Laidlaw Park and is a great day of family fun and entertainment.
Popular attractions include the horse show, tiny tots and show girls competition, Halls Gap Zoo interactive exhibit, Barn Buddies Petting Farm, animal nursery, the beaut ute, car and motorbike competitions, ferret racing, miniature goat show, sheaf tossing, and hall classes and photography exhibitions.
There is also plenty of horse events, including the showjumping and horsemanship challenge.
The Carisbrook Lions will offer free train rides to children from 10am, while older kids can ride Jamie & Kim's mechanical bucking bull for free. Kids of all ages will be amazed by Waldo the magician.
Stawell Performing Arts Company will operate an open mic event, with everyone welcome to take the stage.
This is a wonderful opportunity to perform in front of a happy and supportive crowd.
The Stawell City Brass Band will perform, and there will be a display by the Stawell Gold Mine.
Gates open at 9am and close at 5pm, for details visit stawellagshow.weebly.com.
Ararat Show
The Ararat Show is on the following day, Sunday October 27 at the R.T. White Raceway.
This year's event is jam-packed with a range of displays so varied, there's bound to be something to please everyone.
Kate Gellie from The Little Black Sheep Hire Co. will showcase the beautiful displays she creates for rural weddings, while Gasons, a company proudly founded in Ararat more than 70 years ago, will also have a display of their products.
An exhibition of Stawell's beloved model trains is bound to enthrall train enthusiasts of all ages, while kids group The Kozoos are sure to have pre-schoolers up and dancing, and will be joined on stage by their good friend, Chomper The Cheeky Crocodile.
And of course what would the Ararat Show be without its competitions, from the classic tractor pull, to the fleece competitions and horse events program that includes led and ridden horses, show hunters, ridden shetlands, first ridden and rider classes, and the Gypsy Cob feature ring.
The Ararat Show is on from 9am to 3pm, for more details visit the Facebook page, facebook.com/AraratShow.
