The neighbourhood house will undergo a renovation to bring equipment inline with industry standards.
The upgrade will enable the Stawell Neighbourhood House to run additional programs and provide pathways for participants to develop skills for employment.
Promoting independent living and healthier lifestyle choices is a key part of the Stawell Neighbourhood House. The kitchen is a registered commercial and training kitchen and delivers programs and activities for people with disabilities.
Neighbourhood House coordinator Christine Dearman said current programs and activities would benefit from the upgrades.
"The upgrades won't only help formal programs but those who are waiting to familiarise themselves around a kitchen before signing up to formal training," she said.
"We also host a number of different community lunches.
"With upgraded facilities it allows us to accommodate a larger crowd with ease."
The WDEA Works Foundation provided the funding to Stawell Neighbourhood House and has allocated almost $900,000 to a wide range of projects across regional Victoria. The Foundation grants are offered to organisations that aim to increase employment and social inclusion opportunities for people living with a disability or disadvantage.
"We are so excited to be able to present this funding to the Stawell Neighbourhood House, enabling them to upgrade their kitchen, expand their programs and continue serving the local community," WDEA Works Jobactive Stawell team leader Vanessa Jones said.
