The Warriors got the early lead and were able to shut down the scoring from Horsham in the first, only for Horsham to convert turnovers and make it a one-goal game at quarter time.
Stawell was able to consolidate the lead in the second through shooters Holly Graveson and Madi Taylor, with goal defender Molly Orr providing turnovers with a number of intercepts.
Orr was doubtful to play going into the game injuring her hip at school football and needed medical attention on Friday.
Horsham was fired up after half time and managed to get the upper hand on the Warriors in the third quarter, 10 goals to eight.
Horsham not having dropped a game all season, came in as the ones to watch, many tipping the Demons to get the win.
"We knew we had to do something," Warriors' coaches Jade Cross and Lisa Fleming said.
"We shut down their goal shooter. She really hurt us on the scoreboard last time. We practised that at training on Thursday night.
"Our defensive end of the court played really well and it's probably the best we've seen them play all year.
"We had faith in all the girls across the court - we knew they could do it."
Orr teamed up all day with Kirby Clayton in goalkeeper and managed to slow down the scoring of the Demons.
Stawell managed to hold off the Demons who were able to get the game back level halfway through the last.
Both teams missing opportunities due to errors and not consolidating turnovers.
The final score, 37-34.
The coaches said the win was a credit to all the players who contributed to the team throughout the season.
"During the season, everyone played their part and got us this win today," they said.
"It was a massive team effort. All four quarters there was a massive team effort from each other the girls on the court and those off the court as well.
"Everyone was backing each other and not dropping their heads and supporting from the sidelines."
Warriors' Holly Graveson was named best on the court.
