Sergeant Shane Allgood, of Ararat, said police had received reports of thefts from Woolworth's Ararat, Ritchies SUPA IGA, and Aldi.
On June 6 a 36-year-old male stole various items from Ritchies SUPA IGA to the value of $110.
Police arrested him and he was charged and bailed to court.
Then on July 9 a 34-year-old male from Lake Bolac took $200 worth of items from Woolworth's in Ararat.
Another male, this time a 31-year-old, was charged for stealing a bottle of alcohol from Aldi worth $35.
He was also charged and bailed to court.
"We're getting a bit of this," Sergeant Allgood said. "We're definitely getting an increase in shop thefts."
