Lois Johnson was driving from Banyena to Marnoo along Donald-Stawell Road at about 11.15pm when she and passengers in the car noticed the meteor.
"We were on our way home from book club when we saw something very bright move very quick, it was a red orange colour," she said.

"It looked so close."
There have been many online reports of the meteor being visible throughout hundreds of kilometres, however it seems to be concentrated in western Victoria and South Australia.
