Voters made a clear statement at the weekend's federal election, with incumbent Wannon MP Dan Tehan returning to parliament with an emphatic victory.

After 81.21 per cent of votes counted, Mr Tehan received 60.59 per cent of votes on the two-party preferred basis.
The Liberal member also won more than 50 per cent of the first preference vote, with his 46,018 votes nearly double the amount of Labor's Maurice Billi (23,472).
Independent candidate Alex Dyson made waves with 10.35 per cent of the first preference vote.
United Australia Party's Joshua Wallace and Greens candidate Zephlyn Taylor rounded out the bottom of the ballot with 5,378 and 5,362 votes respectively.
Mr Tehan was well received in the top end of his electorate, with the majority of booths in the Ararat and Stawell areas favouring the incumbent member.
Mr Tehan received the most amount of first preference votes at booths at Ararat West, Concongella, Great Western, Halls Gap, Lake Bolac, Mosyton, Stawell, Stawell West and Willaura.
Mr Billi received 10 more votes than Mr Tehan at the Ararat Senior Citizens booth on Barkly Street.
At the time of publication 93,079 had been cast for Wannon, with just 3.86 per cent of votes recorded as informal.
Wannon was below both Victorian and national informal vote levels - 4.62 and 5.49 per cent respectively.
