The 21-year-old played for the North East Australian Football League team for the first time on Saturday, taking on Redland in the annual Anzac clash at Brisbane.
The former Swifts midfielder's team was able to overcome a half-time deficit to come away with a 25-point win, their first of the 2019 season after four rounds.
Taylor had 10 touches and a behind in his first game and covered 13 kilometres across 70 per cent game time.
"He is a smart user of the ball, and during the NTFL season with St Mary's we saw his impressive turn of speed which he used to break out of the contest," Thunder coach Darren Reeves said.
"Playing NEAFL footy is a step up but a challenge he has been craving, so we're keen to see him develop at this level."
Taylor had his own cheer squad at the game, with family travelling from Stawell to watch his debut.
