Optus turned on its new tower as part of the state government's Mobile Black Spot Project.
"It's fantastic to be able to deliver dedicated Optus mobile coverage to the Pomonal community for the first time, enabling residents to stay connected with their friends and family through reliable voice and data access," Optus mobile access planning manager Vin Mullins said.
"This tower was included as part of the Program following feedback from the local council and community, to improve mobile coverage that will help with emergencies and local tourism.
"With tourism hotspot Halls Gap located adjacent to Pomonal, this site will not only provide dedicated coverage for those in town but also for visitors traveling through the region."
Northern Grampians Shire councillor Jason Hosemans is heavily involved in the Pomonal community and said the tower will have a positive impact.
"The more reception we have in the region the better," he said.
"It is particularly good for people who are visiting the region and may not have Telstra - it opens doors for a lot of people."
