Stawell Neighbourhood House worked with Stawell artist Bev Isaac to design for a tribute out the front of the neighbourhood house on Sloane Street, Stawell.
Isaac drew a New Zealand fern in charcoal on the pavement outside the building, with flowers also placed next to the art.
"We understand this has affected a lot of communities, not just in Christchurch but here as well," Stawell Neighbourhood House coordinator Lisa Arnfield said.
"It is a way for is to show some solidarity and let people know the community is thinking of everyone impacted.
"It is just something simple but hopefully we can show we are here for the community."
Ms Arnfield said the neighbourhood house can be a place of reflection and comfort in tough times.
"We wanted to let the community know they are welcome to come in for a chat, help with counselling or even just to come in for a cuppa."

Fellow artist Peter Voice said he and Isaac had worked in New Zealand previously developing a strong bond for the nation.
"We established the first pavement art festival in Christchurch in the late 90s," he said.
"To have something like the shooting happen over there is heartbreaking. Bev has done a little tribute to know everyone is feeling for them."
