A Grade was to begin at Central Park in Stawell when the rain started falling around noon.
With covers on the pitch, the decision to call off the days play will be left until about 5pm.
When play resumes, Swifts-Great Western will resume their innings on 7-132.
Day two of B Grade's grand final was also impacted by the rain in the region, with the match scheduled to be played at Moyston.
With pools of water around the ground, the decision around the possibility of play will be made at about 2pm on Sunday.
Chalambar won the first day of the final against Rhymney-Moyston.
Chalambar, with the three points up its sleeve and finishing top of the ladder for the season, puts the club in a very commanding position to take home the flag.
If the play is called off, both teams will be awarded a half win.
Chalambar will sit on one and a half wins for the final which cannot be beaten by Rhymney-Moyston, only equalled.
The bonus of finishing on top of the ladder could play an integral part of the B Grade premiership - if the competition is declared a draw the win is awarded to Chalambar due to finishing higher than their opponents on the season ladder.
More to come.
