Tony Petrovski, 43, pleaded guilty to five counts of dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception after he made 82 unauthorised transactions from the business accounts of Imperial China Tours to his own accounts over a period of more than five years.
The transactions - made between March 2011 and December 2016 - totalled more than $429,000.
In the Downing Centre Local Court on Monday, magistrate Vivien Swain sentenced Petrovski, from Blackbutt in the Illawarra region, to three years imprisonment to be served by way of an intensive corrections order which includes 750 hours of community service.
Petrovski had been motivated by "anger and vengeance and some sense of entitlement" in response to his employer reneging on a promise of bonuses, the magistrate said.
Ms Swain accepted Petrovski showed sufficient remorse for his actions, was motivated by providing for his family, had a minimal likelihood of reoffending and had sold his home to pay back $400,000 to his former employer.
