Return dates for school varied throughout the region, scattered across Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Wednesday was the exciting first day of school for 13 foundation or prep children beginning their school life at Stawell’s St Patrick’s Primary School.
Principal Liz McIntyre said the first day back was “ideal”.
“It was fantastic, the children settled in really well,” she said.
“I think it is a credit to the kindergartens around the whole region for the work they do preparing children to start school.”
It was also a special moment for the teachers, with one marking the completion of a full circle of education.
Former St Patrick’s student Lillie Comitti made her return to the school on Wednesday, coming back to the classroom as a teacher.
“It is lovely for the community that Lillie had such a great positive experience as a student she felt that sense of belonging and wanted to come back,” Ms McIntyre said.
“It is always exciting to have new teachers come on board.”
