Stawell’s Christmas carols will take place in the Stawell Entertainment Centre tonight, with heavy rain over the last two days ruling Cato Park out.
Although rain may not be as heavy today, the ground at the park may have still been too wet for carolers to enjoy the evening.
The parade will go ahead as planned at 6.30pm on Main Street.

A watchful eye will be kept on the rain radar on Friday night with Stawell set to celebrate its annual Christmas parade and carols.
The parade is expected to take place on December 14 from 6.30pm on Stawell’s Main Street, followed by carols at Cato Park from 7pm.
Light rain is expected throughout the day but is hoped to have cleared before the parade.
StawellBiz treasurer Kayleen Urquhart said the parade will take place regardless of the weather.
“We have had a really good uptake, similar to last year. We just have our fingers crossed the weather is nice,” she said.
“We have got lots of community groups and different vehicles like motorbikes and hot rods taking part.
“The carols are always a really nice occasion too.”
The carols will also not be hindered by wet weather, with an alternative plan in place should the conditions not be suitable.
“We will move the carols to the town hall if it is too wet. We will make the call on Friday morning depending on how wet the park is,” Stawell Performing Arts Company inc president Dianne Stewart said.
SPACi is also hosting a lantern decoration contest which is sure to add even more colour to a fun-filled evening.
StawellBiz has been crucial in helping create a festive atmosphere around the town in the lead up to Christmas. The initiative of placing real Christmas trees along the Main Street has proved successful, with community members and businesses joining in by decorating them.
”The response has been great,” Mrs Urquhart said.
“In the coming days we will also be setting up Christmas music to add to the atmosphere.”
Mrs Urquhart said embracing the Christmas spirit is a great thing for the community as well as businesses.
“It just makes the town look great and from what I have heard retailers have been quite busy so far,” she said.
“It is really great to see.”
