Dhiaga Wines, based in Great Western, took out the Best Sparkling Wine award at the Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show in Mildura earlier this month. The Gewurztraminer Dhiaga 2018 was the wine that picked up the award.
“We were just stoked, it was out first entry into a show,” co-owner Joyce Clery said.
The wine label has a focus on being natural with “minimal intervention".
“With Dhiaga it is all about quality, minimal intervention, respect for the grape and respect for provenance,” Clery said.
“It is about giving people a really good beverage and a decent drop that hasn’t been tampered with.”
The award was voted on by some of the top people in the wine industry in Australia, including James Halliday’s “right hand person” Jane Faulkner who chaired the judging panel.
